It is that time of year again! The annual Labor Day weekend pilgrimage for Midwest badminton players—the 2025 MNBA Open! I’m thrilled to share that my partner, Vignesh Asokan, and I not only survived but conquered, securing the championship title in Men’s Doubles D. Thanks Vignesh, for sharing the court with me and trusting me. It was a truly heroic effort from both of us.

My journey in Men’s Singles and Mixed Doubles with Anusha Liyanage from Sri Lanka was also a wild ride. I started strong, but my championship dreams were unfortunately cut short in the C Quarter Finals for both events. Hey, you can’t win ‘em all, but securing Quarter Finals from the Round of 128 means something is loading in the near future. I will come back stronger!

A huge shout-out to my fellow Bangladesh Athletic Club - Twin Cities members. This year, Syed Rashed Zaman and I are managing the BAC, and it was incredible to see so many people step out of their comfort zones and participate in the MNBA tournament. A special congratulations to our very own Arzu Khan and Karim Reza bhai for becoming runners-up in the Senior Men’s Doubles. They showed up and conquered, a true “veni-vidi-vici” moment. Take a bow, brothers!!

Finally, the thank-you part! I couldn’t have done this without the support of the entire BAC team. I would like to specially mention Tanbeer Ahmed, Shahadat Shimul, Raffi Chowdury, Saint Akhunji, Neamul Haque, Wasim Akram, Shahla Chowdhury, Sarah Khan, Furhath Arnob, Imrose Alam, Syed Abbas, Syed Rashed Zaman, and Bipul for encouraging me during the matches and for their phenomenal support. I would like to extend my gratitude to Ned Riaz and Bijoy for their advice as coaches.

I have gathered two trophies so far this year. I am dedicating one for each of my sons. And of course, a heartfelt thank you to my incredible wife for her inspiration and for managing the fort while I was out playing.

I am looking forward to other opportunities to play and conquer! Maybe I’ll bring home enough trophies that I will need a new trophy cabinet like Tottenham Hotspur. Do I get any sponsorship for a trophy cabinet?
